Count Andrzej Jerzy mniszek of active 1823-1905 in France since 1854
Oil on panel inlaid mahogany monogrammed and dated 1894 lower right "died in porcelain vase from China or Japan Nature."
He moved to Paris in 1854, in a sumptuous street Daru, where he brought his famous collection of old paintings and art from the family castle in Poland objects. This collection was partly dispersed by his son in a sale of the April 9, 1902 He was a pupil of Jean Gigoux. In 1894 (the year of our attached table) he received a bronze medal for a triptych Japanese subjects that appeared at the National Exhibition of Lwow.
In Paris he was the portrait of the members of the Polish aristocracy and immigrant artists. He rarely exhibited his works these are private orders. 1978 year of the Universal Exhibition of Paris, including Japan was one of the stars, Mniszek began to paint Japanese subjects, he also painted some dead Japanese objects natures.
