This painting was in a private collection, it was presented in 1944 at the Charpentier gallery rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris during the exhibition "Family life" This painting says The Collation is supposed to represent Naigeon and his family. This painting is signed “Naigeon de Rome” in order to distinguish itself from its namesake, Jean Naigeon, who had failed the Prix de Rome competition and could not claim this title.
This painting was made on his return to Burgundy where he settled permanently, after Rome and Paris.
